Pink Anthurium and Lisianthus in a Pink Pot

This is a living plant arrangement rather than a bouquet, which means it stays in the room long after a cut arrangement would have gone. A pink anthurium sits at the centre, its glossy spathes holding colour for weeks at a time, with lisianthus and pink garden roses gathered around it in a modern pink polymer pot. The palette is deliberately soft: nothing here shouts. It suits a birthday, a thank-you, or the kind of afternoon when you simply want someone to know you were thinking of them. What is actually in it

Built around one pink anthurium plant, with pink lisianthus and pink garden roses arranged alongside it, presented in a pink polymer pot twelve centimetres high and twelve and a half wide. Overall height is twenty-five to thirty-five centimetres. Stem count, exact wrap and pot finish can vary slightly with seasonal availability.

What it looks like on day four

This is a living plant rather than a cut arrangement, so it does not have a vase life. Kept in the right light and watered properly it stays with the recipient for months or years, and the decorative pot remains long after that. Leaf size and the exact number of open flowers vary from plant to plant.

Keep the anthurium in a bright spot out of direct sun; filtered light suits it best, because strong sun scorches the flower spathes. Water when the top of the soil feels dry, keeping it lightly moist but never waterlogged, and empty any water left standing in the outer pot. Wipe the leaves now and then so they keep their shine. In good conditions an anthurium flowers on and off for months.

The five things that actually matter

1. Recut the stems. Two centimetres off at a 45° angle, under running water if you can. Air locks in the stem are the main cause of early droop.
2. Strip leaves below the waterline. Submerged foliage rots and turns the water bacterial within a day.
3. Change the water, do not just top it up. Every two days, with the sachet we include.
4. Keep them away from fruit. Ripening fruit releases ethylene, which ages cut flowers dramatically faster.
5. Cool and out of direct sun. A radiator or a sunny windowsill will halve the vase life of anything.

Substitution policy

Fresh flowers are an agricultural product. Occasionally the market does not have what we planned for, especially with seasonal stems like peonies. When that happens we do one of two things, and never anything else:

• Substitute a stem of equal or greater value in the same colour family, and email you a photograph before dispatch so you can approve it or cancel for a full refund.
• If no acceptable substitute exists, we call you. We will not quietly send something different and hope you do not notice.

Cancellations

Change or cancel free until 18:00 the day before delivery. After that the flowers are cut and conditioned specifically for your order, so cancellation is not possible — this is the perishable-goods exception under distance-selling rules, and it is stated again at checkout before you pay.
