How to choose when you do not know what you are looking at
Nearly everyone who orders flowers is buying them for somebody else, under time pressure, without knowing a ranunculus from a lisianthus. That is completely normal, and the three questions below will get you to the right answer faster than scrolling.
What is the occasion, really?
Tone matters more than the specific flower. A birthday wants brightness and volume. An apology wants restraint. Sympathy wants white, green and no fuss. If you get the tone right, almost any well-made arrangement will land.
Where is it going, and will anyone be there?
An office needs something that survives a reception desk for a week — a plant or a vase arrangement beats a hand-tied bouquet. A hospital ward often bans strong scents and pollen, which rules out most lilies. If nobody will be home to put stems in water, choose dried or a boxed arrangement.
What is the real budget, including delivery?
Under $60 you are buying seasonal stems in volume, and that is a genuinely good buy. Between $75 and $120 you get named varieties and a considered structure. Above $150 you are paying for scarcity — imported peonies out of season, or garden roses that had to travel. All three are legitimate; just know which one you are doing.
