Seven Pink Gerberas in a Crystal Vase

Gerberas are the least complicated flowers we sell. They look like oversized daisies, they suit almost anyone, and nobody has to decode what they mean. Seven pink ones stand here in a crystal cylinder vase with eucalyptus running between them and a gold ribbon at the neck. Because the vase comes with it, there is nothing for the recipient to do on arrival, which matters if you are sending to an office, a hospital room or someone who is not going to go hunting for a vase. Thirty-five to forty centimetres overall. Good for a birthday, a get-well, or a thank-you that does not need to be a grand gesture.

What is actually in it

Seven pink gerberas with eucalyptus in a crystal glass cylinder vase twenty-one centimetres high and nine point seven wide, finished with a gold ribbon. Overall height thirty-five to forty centimetres. Stem count, exact wrap and pot finish can vary slightly with seasonal availability.

What it looks like on day four

Cut flowers keep changing after they arrive. Buds open further over the first two or three days, which is usually when the arrangement looks its fullest. With daily water changes and a fresh trim it typically holds its colour and shape for six to nine days.

We photograph every listing on the bench under daylight. The image you are looking at is the arrangement, not a mood board.

Unwrap the arrangement when it arrives and remove any ties. Trim two or three centimetres off each stem at an angle under running water and strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline. Use a clean vase with room-temperature water, add the flower food sachet, and keep it away from direct sun, radiators and draughts. Change the water every day, trimming half a centimetre each time, and take out any stem that fades so the rest stay fresh.

The five things that actually matter

1. Recut the stems. Two centimetres off at a 45° angle, under running water if you can. Air locks in the stem are the main cause of early droop.
2. Strip leaves below the waterline. Submerged foliage rots and turns the water bacterial within a day.
3. Change the water, do not just top it up. Every two days, with the sachet we include.
4. Keep them away from fruit. Ripening fruit releases ethylene, which ages cut flowers dramatically faster.
5. Cool and out of direct sun. A radiator or a sunny windowsill will halve the vase life of anything.

Substitution policy

Fresh flowers are an agricultural product. Occasionally the market does not have what we planned for, especially with seasonal stems like peonies. When that happens we do one of two things, and never anything else:

• Substitute a stem of equal or greater value in the same colour family, and email you a photograph before dispatch so you can approve it or cancel for a full refund.
• If no acceptable substitute exists, we call you. We will not quietly send something different and hope you do not notice.

Cancellations

Change or cancel free until 18:00 the day before delivery. After that the flowers are cut and conditioned specifically for your order, so cancellation is not possible — this is the perishable-goods exception under distance-selling rules, and it is stated again at checkout before you pay.
