What is actually in it

This gift set combines nine white roses with orange roses, arranged in a round grey concrete planter 16 cm tall and 16 cm wide, with a small plush teddy bear included among the blooms. Overall height is approximately 25 to 30 cm. The exact bear model may vary from the one pictured, and small variations can occur depending on stock availability.

What it looks like on day four

Although it arrives already arranged in its planter, this is a fresh-cut arrangement rather than a living plant. With regular watering and kept away from heat, the roses typically stay fresh and colourful for around six to eight days, opening a little further over the first two or three.

Although this arrangement comes already planted in its concrete planter, the roses are fresh cut stems rather than a living plant. Water the planter every day or two with room-temperature water, letting it soak in fully, and avoid letting the base sit in standing water. Keep the roses away from direct sun, heating vents and draughts, and gently remove any bloom that starts to fade so the rest stay fresher for longer.

The five things that actually matter

1. Recut the stems. Two centimetres off at a 45° angle, under running water if you can. Air locks in the stem are the main cause of early droop.
2. Strip leaves below the waterline. Submerged foliage rots and turns the water bacterial within a day.
3. Change the water, do not just top it up. Every two days, with the sachet we include.
4. Keep them away from fruit. Ripening fruit releases ethylene, which ages cut flowers dramatically faster.
5. Cool and out of direct sun. A radiator or a sunny windowsill will halve the vase life of anything.

Substitution policy

Fresh flowers are an agricultural product. Occasionally the market does not have what we planned for, especially with seasonal stems like peonies. When that happens we do one of two things, and never anything else:

• Substitute a stem of equal or greater value in the same colour family, and email you a photograph before dispatch so you can approve it or cancel for a full refund.
• If no acceptable substitute exists, we call you. We will not quietly send something different and hope you do not notice.

Cancellations

Change or cancel free until 18:00 the day before delivery. After that the flowers are cut and conditioned specifically for your order, so cancellation is not possible — this is the perishable-goods exception under distance-selling rules, and it is stated again at checkout before you pay.
